Approach and Involvement:

Within this context, our contributions were significant. We supported engagement efforts with Iwi Leaders and fostered broader national engagement with Iwi, Hapū, and various Māori entities regarding the Resource Management Reforms. Our expertise was particularly valuable in ensuring that Te Ao Māori principles were accurately represented in the policy development and reform discussions.

Impact and Outcome:

By collaborating closely with the Te Ao Māori Policy Team, Mahea contributed to a Resource Management Reform process that authentically incorporated Māori viewpoints. The engagement with Iwi Leaders and Māori entities facilitated meaningful exchanges, resulting in policy frameworks that were more comprehensive and culturally sensitive.

Through our involvement, the Ministry for the Environment's reform efforts were able to reflect Te Ao Māori perspectives, and the resulting policy changes bore the potential for more inclusive, equitable, and effective resource management practices.
